Our history.

1991

Founded by Mike Swim, the firm began its journey with a commitment to Excellence in Engineering.

1994–1997

Chris Cornett and Bill Schuchat join the team, establishing the foundation for what would become SSC Engineering.

1995

Electrical engineering services are added, expanding the firm’s capabilities and expertise.

2004

Fire Protection engineering is added to SSC’s growing range of services.

2008

SSC launches its Engineering Internship Program, which has since grown to include the Rockwood Partners in Education and St. Louis CAPS programs.

2009

A dedicated Structural Engineering group is established, further expanding the firm’s multidisciplinary capabilities.

2011

SSC earns its first appearance on the MEP Giants list, recognizing the firm among the top 100 MEP firms in North America.

2024

SSC obtains licensure in its 49th U.S. state, expanding its reach and ability to serve clients nationwide.

2025

Ownership expands from three to four Principals: Chris Cornett, Rich Kwiatkowski, Brian Scott, and Corey Bryant.

2026

SSC celebrates 35 years in business, marking more than three decades of growth, innovation, and service.

Beyond engineering.

SSC is proud to support the communities where we live and work through local initiatives and educational partnerships.

  • Community Involvement: Supporting organizations and events including Wright City Community Food Pantry, Pedal the Cause, Biz Dash, the American Heart Association, and community fundraisers throughout the St. Louis region.
  • Student Development: Participating in the Partners in Education (PIE) Internship Program and St. Louis CAPS Program to provide high school students with hands-on engineering experience while earning course credit.
