Big Rivers Electric Cooperative has a new 102,000 sq ft Transmission Operations Center designed to strengthen system reliability, operational efficiency, and emergency response capabilities. The campus includes a single-story operations center, a support warehouse, and a dedicated vehicle maintenance facility.
The operations center features modern office space, an energy control center with separate business and transmission server rooms, advanced network and communications infrastructure, a storm-resistant control room, a war and training room with an EMS lab, and dedicated CIP contractor space. The standalone vehicle maintenance building includes overhead cranes, a wash bay, and specialized safety, oil, PCB, and gas storage areas to support fleet maintenance and operations.
Designed to meet NERC and SERC requirements, the new campus enhances Big Rivers’ ability to respond to severe weather and power outages while providing a secure, resilient environment for critical transmission operations.
SSC provided MEP, Fire Protection, and Structural engineering design.
